the best morning routine - 3 habits to live by

Your guide to a better morning.

When I look back on my best mornings there is one thing in common: they all start the night before. I am intentionally setting myself up for a good start to the day. Let me explain the 3 evening habits I do to ensure I have an amazing morning.

  1. Evening workflow

At the end of the day, I take my list of morning intentions and reflect on them. Did I achieve what I set out to do? What needs to be prioritized for tomorrow? It is chronically overwhelming to wake up and plan your intentions from scratch. Reflecting and organizing in the evening allows me to streamline my morning workflow priorities.

2. Reduce the to-do List

I have a limited amount of precious “morning coffee energy” and I choose to not spend it picking my clothes out. I pick out my outfit the evening prior and in the morning I put it on and go about my day. The last morning emergency I need is finding a clean pair of matching socks.

Next, my bag is packed to go for the next day and left by the front door. No more rushing or forgetting.

Lastly, have a charging station. All the electronics get charged and you know where to find them.

3. gratitude

Yes, I am that girl. I do type in my gratitude journal every evening. And I am going to keep doing it because I go to sleep feeling great and wake up feeling amazing. I am not a morning person but this habit might just put me in that category. In addition to my three moments of gratitude, I also write down one thing I learned that day. Gratitude and learning are an important part of living well and I maintain this mindset by checking-in with myself every evening.

These are three habits made a difference in my morning routine. Instead of adding more to your morning routine think about what you can take away from your morning routine to make it less overwhelming. Enjoy your morning coffee.
